Oil on Terra Skin

Not often do I post a painting that is not for sale. I consider this one too experimental to sell at this point. It started out really crappy; so, I poured Gamsol on it and just worked it with every tool on my table. When it dried, it had a lovely soft, satin, almost waxed looking surface. Then I added marks using oil pastel.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone that has used this process before. What was your outcome? Will it be archival if I seal it with archival varnish? Will it be too fugitive?
